To eat or not to eat...

That is the question I have been plagued with lately.  Evan's poop had turned back to yellow for almost a week now and he seemed to be doing better.  I added wheat back into my diet over a week ago and that seemed to go just fine.  This past Friday I added back in soy, which also didn't have any drastic effects.  Evan had been going through what I would assume was his 6-week growth spurt (eating, sleeping, eating, sleeping).  Sunday night though we started to see a few green specks back in his diaper.  We had a greenish diaper overnight and a yellow one this morning.  Looking back, Evan has been spitting up A LOT more the past week  and had a lot of gas this weekend... so, the question is... is it food related?  Is it due to the soy or wheat?  Did I mistakenly eat some dairy?

To say I took this all well would be a reach, but this morning I woke somewhat refreshed (Evan ate at 8 pm and slept from (9:30 pm to 3:30 am!), I am handling it a little better.  I am going to watch his poop and avoid soy since that was the last thing I had put back into my diet for the next while and see what happens.  I know I probably went through the same emotions and frustrations with diet limitations with Liam, but I didn't write it down, so inevitably I have forgotten it.

Overall, Evan is gaining weight, growing and developing and that is the end goal.  This food/poop stuff although overwhelming me at times will soon be forgotten :)

In other news... Evan is loving peek-a-boo!  His little face takes about 2-3 seconds to think about what just went on and then a big smile erupts on his face... almost a laugh last night too!

Zoo trip!

We we to the free stingray/shark exhibit tonight with Vanessa. Liam tried hard, but didn't actually get his hands on a stingray :(

Just too cute!

Laundry is a bit more complicated now!

WOW!

Evan slept ate at 9:30 last night and then slept until.... 3:30! He was up several times grunting with gas, but didn't wake up to eat until 3:30 :)

He had a kind of hard day yesterday with crying out in what seemed like gas/GI pain, so we will see what today brings. Hard to tell if he doesn't like the wheat I added back in, he just had a fussy day or it may be a growth spurt...

I don't want to jinx it...

We saw the pediatrician Friday as a followup to the reflux/gi issues Evan has been having. At that time his diapers were not looking so dark green mucous, but still green and still mucous. She reassured me that Evan is growing well and suggested we use his demeanor as a rubric for how things are going rather than his poop. We agreed his reflux is under good control and she encouraged me to gradually add food types back in while watching Evan for changes. So, i started eating wheat again!! Ahh carbs, I can survive as long as I have carbs! I will give wheat 4-5 days and watch evan, then nuts/eggs and finally soy. We shall see.

Meanwhile, Evan's poops have been looking more normal. Still green... Greenish almost yellow sometimes, certainly not normal, but getting so much closer. The more reassuring thing for me is the mucous is decreasing. Yes, there are still diapers completely filled, but there are also diapers with minimal or no noticeable mucous!!!

I am guessing this is due to dairy finally being out of my system and working it's way out of Evan's system, but who knows, it definitely could be something else I eliminated... We will just have to wait and see. If I get through all the additions up top with no Evan issues, i will attempt to add in sone hidden dairy in about a month and see.

Evan is currently sleeping on my chest quite peacefully... He is having more and more awake time and more smiles :)

Our BIG Boy!

5 weeks old and 11 lbs, 3.5 oz. :)

Cuteness!

This morning I put Evan in a onesie that said "best friends" with two animals on it.

I told Liam and asked if one day Evan would be his best friend and he replied "he already is". :) warms my heart!
