Doctor Visit

Took Liam to the doctor this evening and got him on some reflux drugs - hopefully that will help make the little guy a little more comfortable after feedings. While at the doctor, he weighed in at an impressive 10 pounds, 9 ounces... that's over two pounds in three weeks for those keeping score at home!

Nice Weekend

Liam is resting comfortably on his daddy right now...

He learned how to turn himself in his bouncer while napping today. He is all swaddled up like a burrito and can turn from side to back and to his other side... just the start of having to chase after him!

He is becoming more alert and spent some time staring at his swing mobile today. He is still in love with mirrors and like staring at his black and white patterns during his diaper changes!

Happy Birthday Kaycee!

Big day today - Kaycee is 27 and Liam is 1 month! Mom and baby both celebrated by taking a nice long nap this afternoon.

The best things in life are not free!

Starting getting hospital bills and while all of them have been covered up to this point... WOW am I glad we have good insurance. Apparently having a uncomplicated birth and a healthy mom and baby costs around $20,000. I can't even imagine if Liam or I would have needed a little extra something. As Jon said... "I'm glad we took the extra diapers!"

Who's Listening!

Liam had a big day today... when we were playing and the dog knocked a book off the table, which made a big crash... Liam turned his head 180 degrees to see what was up... yep, that's right sound localization. I will try to get some video of it tomorrow!

Growing Baby

In other baby news - Liam was sporting an entire outfit of size 0-3 today. So long newborn size!

Kaycee got a new toy today... 2010 Subaru Outback (hers is blue)! Liam & Bentley are anxiously awaiting there first car ride together.

Big Weekend

Well Liam had quite a busy weekend. Saturday we went car shopping and test drove quite a few cars. Liam did very well in his carseat listening to mommy and daddy talk all about cars.

We had more errands to run this morning, first trip to the grocery store and yet another trip to this place called Target that mommy seems to love so much! This afternoon Uncle Andrew came over and held me for awhile. We also went for our very first walk outside in my stroller. Liam slept through the entire thing, but seemed pretty happy about it!

I think Liam is going through some sort of growth spurt since he wants to feed all the time lately and is waking up every hour and half to two hours during the day and at night... hello sleep-deprivation! We posted some new pictures to picasa of Liam's adventures over the past week. Enjoy!

Big Boy Bath

Since Liam has an official belly button now, we gave him his first big boy bath in the bathtub... no more sponge bath for him! Let's just say he didn't see the excitement in this new endeavor...

To Liam's disappointment we repeated this bath thing tonight... still not well received. Liam also thinks that bathtubs are kind of like a diaper... peeing is a common occurrence in the both...

Kaycee gave me the choice of doing the dishes or snuggling with liam... She's doing a great job with the dishes :)

Couple of pictures

Liam tried to take his first nap in his crib today... we were successful for about 5 minutes! Apparently napping in mommy's arms is much better than the crib!

We had some official playtime today as well... Liam was awake for almost an hour and really liked looking at pictures in books!

Grandpa Mike Visits

Grandpa Mike got to meet Liam today. Liam thought he was pretty cool... he got to be held by someone for a couple of hours and someone else thought all his noises are pretty fun too!

New body part exposed!

After a couple of nurse calls and one doctor visit :) over the past two days, Liam has lost his umbilical cord and is now the proud owner of a new belly button! It had been trying to fall off for a couple of days and making mommy and daddy worry because it was bleeding quite a bit... but at long last it just fell off! See below for a belly shot!

Liam did a bit better last night... slept for a couple of hours and then needed cuddles... but no major screaming fits! We are going to try to have our very first outing to Target to pick up some essentials today! Wish us luck!

Back to work today...

Quite Adventurous

How do you teach a baby that night is for sleeping and not for crying non-stop? Liam had quite the little adventure last night, which has resulted in a very tired mommy. No worries though... he is sleeping it off all day long! Let's hope Liam remembers that people sleep at night... or at least look very cute when they keep their mommy up all night long!

No More Glow Baby

We had our follow-up visit at the doctor this morning to get Liam's bilirubin levels checked. He's below 13 now so he can go off the light machine. It's nice to have a cordless baby again!

A triple diaper change is a great way to start the day: #2 #2 #1 for the win!!!

Visitors and a new bed!

My parents came over today to return the dog, drop off a cradle Dave made, and snuggle Liam!

Bentley is curious about Liam, but doing very well (all the new smells are very exciting!). The new cradle is beautiful. Liam took a brief catnap in it after the doctor before he had to get hooked up to his lights again.

Glo-Baby Update

Went to the doctor this afternoon. Liam's level are on there way down. He is at 15.2 today, down from 17.4 yesterday. He needs to keep the lights on until he is under 13, which the doctor expects to be in a day or two. We go back in for a check-up and bloodwork on saturday morning. Hopefully we can go back to a 'cordless' baby then!

Liam is limited to a 2 foot circumference... which makes life even more exciting for mommy and daddy!

Doctor Appt.

Well... Liam is officially a pooper... three poops within one hour time! Note to self... pack more diapers in the diaper bag.

We were at the doctor this morning, everything is going fine, although Liam does seem to have some jaundice. His levels were a little high when we left the hospital and we are waiting to hear back from the lab what they are today. We may have a glowing baby in our future!

UPDATE: we have a glowing baby tonight :( Poor Guy

So many baby pictures

Downloading baby pictures onto our computer while Liam is sleeping (has been quiet for over an hour... we may sleep a little tonight!!!). In three days of life, we currently have 231 Liam photos and Kaycee just picked up the camera again. Yikes!

Essential Stats

Just in case we haven't passed this info along to everyone (and I guarantee we haven't!), here's the stats on Liam!

Liam Matthew West
Born on February 27th at 7:15 am
Weighed 8 lbs, 21 inches long

Minor contractions started thursday evening and by friday evening we were headed off to the hospital. I was admitted at 1:30 am and delivered 6 hours later.

All the things people tell you

Yep. I just sent Jon over to Liam to make sure he is still breathing. He has been sleeping for over an hour now and the 'mommy crazy' has kicked in! Not to worry... he is just fine...

Other big news of the day... talking about and waiting for poo to come. Isn't that what everyone spends a significant amount of their day talking about? No poo yet... will keep everyone informed though as it is big Liam news!

My favorite picture from yesterday... Liam's first bath experience. It involved a lot of crying and a little bit of fun!
