More Zoo!

Madison Zoo!

After lunch, on a VERY hot day, we headed off to the zoo! We saw the new polar bear exhibit, snakes moving, rode the train and carousel... And then Evan threw up all over himself... Ugh. Feeling better today!

Farmer's Market!

Ice Cream Eating

Liam and I took a short hike at Summons Woods this afternoon. Liam led me around the green trail. We saw a turtle walking down the trail and a tree full of heron nests way off on the distance!

Maya joins our family

Jon and I have been feeling the hole in our hearts from losing our Buckley and we truly felt that although we are still grieving and processing our loss, our house really was too empty without a kitty in it!  We talked about getting a baby kitten or an older cat... I started looking at Petfinder and local shelters... and for several days in a row, a cat caught my eye.  I would love to say it was Maya, but her picture was not online.  Instead it was a white and orange cat named Spunk that led us into Petsmart last Sunday.  We met Spunk and we all thought he was a great cat... just not for our family right now... I hope he finds someone just perfect for him soon!  Instead we found ourselves (and Jon spotted first!) drawn to this quiet black, sweet, soft cat named Monica.  She was outgoing with the boys, but not too needy.  She was good with dogs and had been in numerous shelters for the past year. Jon and I have a very soft spot for black animals and were so happy to give her a home and family.

We had to have her, she was just what we had been needing.  We picked her up on Tuesday afternoon and she adjusted very well.  She explored, met Bentley, ate, used her litter box and snuggled in within 24 hours.  Thank you to Mary and Clancy for helping watch the boys and Maya while I am at a three-day conference!  Sorry Maya likes to bite your toes early in the morning!

Welcome to the West Family Maya!

A Daddy movie date and a Mommy Flabbergast date!

Jon got to take Liam and his friend Logan to the new Angry Birds movie!  Evan and I ran errands and then stopped in to Flabbergast to have some fun together!  They are becoming such big boys!
