Sleeping in the crib

HE DID IT! All night long our little Liam slept in his crib like a big boy! He woke up at 2:30, a little earlier than usual for his nighttime feeding. He ate and went right back down again and slept until 6:30 for his morning feeding. Woohoo! We will keep the bouncer on standby, but hopefully this keeps up!

Sleeping

Well... Liam did fall asleep in his crib last night... after about an hour of fussing... and slept for about 30 minutes before he woke up crying... we will see how long he can make it tonight! The good news is his reflux does not seem to be bothering him with the slightly inclined mattress... just a matter of readjusting! He is sleeping like a champ today though... lots of very deep naps, must have been a bit tired from not sleeping as much last night!

Sleeping Update

Liam is officially sleeping in his room at night. Next step is getting rid of the bouncer.

Doctor... Again

We were at the doctor today. Liam weighs 13 lbs. 14 oz... the doctor was pretty impressed! It is a good sign that he is gaining weight so well... obviously the reflux/GI issues are not interfering with him gaining weight!

She did send us to an OT for an evaluation/treatment for torticollis. Liam has been tilting his head to the right side for a week or two now... so we will go get it checked out and get some excercises to do with Liam.

Liam also had his first experience in daycare yesterday. Jon and I joined the Wisconsin Athletic Club, which is right by our house. They have an in-house daycare program so I can drop Liam off for an hour and workout. He did great yesterday!

I played hookie from work today and we all went and spent the morning with the Wests and Greenes at their campsite. Liam had some more quality time with his great grandparents and great aunt & uncle and we all enjoyed some great weather (which was sorely missed this weekend).

After that, we signed up at the Wisconsin Athletic Club (daycare, raquetball courts, swimming pool, hot tub, and treadmills with built in flatscreen TVs and Ipod connections = good times!) and then went for a nice hike at a nearby park.

And finally, if this wasn't enough for one day, we're going to try moving Liam up into his own room tonight - fingers crossed!

Family Time

We had a wonderful afternoon with all the Wests/Greenes! Liam got to see his grandma and grandpa and Uncle Andrew. He also got to meet great-grandma West, great-grandpa West, great aunt Kathy and great uncle Gary!

What a handsome group!

Poo Everywhere

Record breaking poo this evening. List of casualties included bouncy seat, blanket, pants (got the worst of it), socks, onesie, changing pad, changing table cover, mommy. Also at least 12 wipes were involved. Poo was found on the back, up the legs, behind the kneecap, down in socks... thank goodness for baths!

Growing

Liam is growing again... 0-3 socks and onesies are getting too small... as are size 1 diapers. Let's just say we have had many poo blowouts this past week :) Going to have to pack away some clothes and break out a new size soon!

Beautiful weather

Mommy and Liam have been going for beautiful walks all week long... gotta love spring!

Naptime

Crossing my fingers that Liam decides to be on board with naptime... been trying to get some sort of schedule... oddly Liam decides when he wants to be on board or not!

After much thought and meditation, I've come to the realization that success in life can be measured in how many different types of feces you clean up. Today I cleaned up cat, dog, and baby poop - so I must be doing something right...

Doctor Update

Liam and I went to our new doctor today and we loved her! The nurse and doctor were very friendly and thorough. The doctor agreed with the reflux diagnosis and is keeping Liam on the prevacid. It does seem to be helping somewhat, so we will keep with it. She told us we need to start Vitamin D drops for Liam and told us we could also try pro-biotics for Liam if we wanted. For right now we are going to keep with the prevacid and see how it goes.

Updated stats:
Weight: 12 lbs., 9 oz
Height: 23 inches

That puts him in the 90% for weight, 70% for height and 50% for head circumference. Liam got his 2 month shots, which he did not like :( Three shots and one oral vaccination... ick. Hopefully all will go well and we won't have to go back until our 4 month checkup!

We are off to Target now to pick up a few things and then a walk in this beautiful weather!

Meds and whatnot

Well... I have officially stopped going to our original pediatrician. After several visits and phone calls, I didn't feel like she was listening to what I was saying or respecting the fact that the two minutes she spends with Liam is not representative of him overall... we are no longer going to see her. The last straw was when she said I was overfeeding him when breastfeeding... don't even know how that is possible and I am certainly not taking food away from Liam after 5 minutes of nursing... so onward! We went to see our family practice doctor yesterday and he started Liam on a dose of prevacid. This medicine doesn't just neutralize the acid in Liam's stomach (Zantac was supposed to do this), but rather shuts off acid pumps in his stomach so that there is significantly less acid. Hopefully this will help Liam with his feedings and his overall comfort level. Crazy new mom that I am though, we are not going to stick with that doctor for Liam. Instead I have found a new pediatrician who we see next week. She is closer, younger, and has 24 hour, 7-day a week on-call services, which really make Jon and I more comfortable.

So... putting aside all that nonsense. Liam is doing pretty well. He now wieghs 12 lbs. 2oz... I know, crazy big! He is pretty much growing out of all his 0-3 clothes and some 3-6 (gerber runs quite small). He is smiling more and more. He has begun to like his massage time a little better and is definitely getting used to his baths. He seems to like sitting in the water rather than being suspended over it! Today he was laughing in his sleep... which was adorably cute! He is making more and more noises... mostly at himself in the mirror or talking to the yellow square page in his book. I will try to get some good video in the next couple of days and post it.

Easter Sunday

Liam had his first road trip up to Grandma & Grandpa West's house today to celebrate Easter with the Stephan clan. Five hours riding in the car and he complained less than his parents did :)

Happy Easter everyone!

Whew... what a week

Lots happening this week... started new reflux medication. We are still trying to iron out the right dose, but it seems to be helping already. Liam has been growing like a weed lately... big pudgy cheeks, pot-belly tummy, cute little rolls everywhere

Liam officially smiled at mommy this week... twice in a row. He is fascinated by looking at faces and likes different sounds. He also loves a page in his b&w book that is all checks... stares and stares at it. He has also made friends with a b&w butterfly during his diaper changes!

He has started making all sorts of fun noises and is awake for several hours at once now. We are still working on falling asleep at times and there is nothing in the way of a schedule... but still a good weeks worth of work!

Daddy's birthday was today and Liam is giving Daddy birthday cuddles right now!
