Four Month Checkup

Had our fourth-month check-up today. Here's the stats:

Weight: 17 lbs, 8 ounces - 95th percentile
Height: 26 3/4 inches - 95th percentile
Head circumference: 42 cm - 75th percentile

All in all a very healthy four month old. We are going to be starting cereal this weekend... what fun! Going to see a pediatric dentist tomorrow to see about whether the bump in Liam's mouth is in fact a tooth or if it is just a bump... we'll keep you posted!

Currently Liam is screaming his little head off in bed, protesting the whole sleeping thing. Sleep has not been such a great thing lately for him.. He has been waking up every three hours again and is quite hard to get back down. Usually an hour to an hour and a half to get him completely back to sleep... needless to say Mommy isn't getting much sleep these past few nights. So, trying to gently teach Liam that he can indeed fall asleep on his own and stay asleep!

We had a nice day with Mary and Clancy today. Highlights of the day include Liam getting a lot of play time with grandma/grandpa, a nice long walk, relaxing on the porch, and Bentley doing a garbage raid and making off with steak scraps (and unknown other treasures...)

When your baby poops once a week, the probability of any one diaper change being poopy (and yes spell-checker, I did intend to use the quasi-word poopy instead of poppy...) is rather low.  Add to that working ~45 hours a week and being asleep for the 3am feeding/diaper change - and you can go quite a while without seeing baby poop.  Tonight I hit the jackpot!

It was a long time coming, but I finally got to see Liam roll over tonight!

First Father's Day

Thanks to Kaycee and Liam for a memorable 1st Father's Day.  Liam started the day off with an early present by letting his parents sleep in till 8:00.  Kaycee and Liam got me a new (climbing) rope bag that was specially designed for my new backpack.  Can't wait to break it in out at Devil's Lake!

We then went to the park where I took Bentley on his first run.  He did really well, once we got our rhythm down, he stayed right by my side without tugging or cutting in front of me.  I was quite pleased - Bentley will be my new running partner!  After my run, we all went on a nice hike around the park to test out the new jogging stroller Kaycee got (at a rummage sale - $20 - very exciting!)  Took advantage of the nice weather to get some outside chores done in the afternoon, and have a boy-movie scheduled for tonight.  All-in-all, a great day!

To all the fathers/grandfathers/great-grandfathers reading this - Happy Father's Day!

Oh - forgot to mention - we brought up Liam's highchair today.  We'll by trying him with some solid foods in the near future.  Stay tuned...

New Format

How is everyone liking the new blog layout? Kaycee picked a good one.  I've heard it described as "It's Cute and Child-like!"
It really struck me when looking at these last sets of pictures how much Liam is growing and changing!

Oh and for those placing bets...

Liam's eyes are starting to look a bit brown... depends on the day and lighting... who knows though!

In other news...

Liam grabs his toes now... see below for the proof!

McClyman's

We were up at my dad's house today to see him and my grandparents. Liam had a great time!

Fun New Stuff

Don't quite know how another week is escaping... but it is!

Grandma has been babysitting for Liam all week, since I have had to go to a four-day inservice for work :(. Liam has been having a lot of fun with Grandma though!

Here's the run-down on 'new stuff' Liam is doing!

  • grabbing pretty successfully at toys, even two handed!
  • sitting up with some assistance
  • grabbing and getting his toes (especially his right foot with his right hand!) sitting up and laying down
  • making all sorts of fun noises: squeals, screams, goos, etc.
  • growing a neck to support all those chins!
  • still getting up at night, but only once or twice for a paci and then once for a feeding
  • starting to take three naps (two, two 1/2 to three hours, one 1 hour) a day instead of four
  • drinking 7 ounces from his bottle
  • getting his whole chest off the ground during tummy time
  • still sleeping every night and most naptimes in the crib!

Whew... and it is only wednesday! Here's some pictures Grandma has shot this week:

Grandma is sooo funny!

My blankie tastes pretty good too!

Pulled mommy's hair today!

Weight check: 16lbs, 10 ounces... so big!

Doctor said everything is looking fine and we are going to increase his dose a bit to see if that helps with his reflux a bit.

Monday, June 7, 2010

Liam went to work with mommy today. Ugghhh. Mommy wasn't too happy about all the drama at work, but Liam loved it! So many new sounds, faces and colorful walls! Tomorrow we are headed to the doctor for a weight check to see if it is time to up the reflux medication.

Daddy gets to put Liam down to bed tonight... how exciting!

Another successful night in the crib! And now for a day of errands and rummage sales with mommy!

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Well... Liam has decided he no longer wants to sleep in his bouncy. He now sleeps in his crib... who knew. A couple of nights ago he would just scream and scream when you put him in his bouncy... so we tried the crib. He spent half a night there and then last night he spent the whole night there. Even when he woke up, he went right back down... I knew our son was a stubborn one. I can already hear "I don't want to do it that way" in my head. :)
