Sleep... or lack there of...

The last month has gone downhill in the sleep category. Between crawling, standing and being sick, Liam has not spent many nights staying asleep. Thank goodness for Daddy taking multiple night shifts and always willing to get up at all hours of the night... I don't know how people do this on their own!

Liam has still been going down well... he is just up, up, up at some point during the night... sometimes he wants to be held, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he acts like his teeth hurt, sometimes we just don't have a clue... whatever the culprit, it is never easily or quickly fixed!

Naptimes in the new room started out well... went downhill the two days he has been there this week. Yesterday, NO naps at daycare. Liam had a meltdown as soon as we left the building and was asleep in his carseat before I could get out of the parking lot. He slept from 3:25 when I picked him up until 5:30 when we woke him up... It throws off his whole night though... cranky and all out of sorts! Today he slept for 35 minutes around 11 this morning... refused an afternoon nap and again feel asleep in the car... not much of a nap though when we got home...

We are trying to get him on a one-nap routine in his new room, hoping for at least an hour nap...

Hopefully Liam can settle into a new routine and have some peaceful naps and nights :)

Hey... let me try that!

Liam has been getting pickier and pickier about eating. A friend of mine was telling me that when her son was younger they called him the "carbivore"... Liam seems to fit that lately! He does not want any fruit or veggies, pureed or otherwise... he only wants carbs! Breads, graham crackers, crackers, puffs... I think the only reason he learned to sign more was to get more carbs!

We thought he might just be wanted more independence in feeding himself... so we tried to let him have the bowl and spoon tonight (with some mommy/daddy input!)... he did get the spoon to his mouth with food several times although mostly I think he liked making a mess!

Boo... go away fever!

Uggghhh... I am ready for a few weeks of calm...

Liam woke up with a 102.4 fever this morning :( after a somewhat fitfull night...

No runny nose, no cough, possibly teething... definitely a fever. Not quite sure what is going on, but Daddy stayed home with Liam today. He was cranky and just not himself. He took nice, long naps at home, which hopefully did the trick! His fever did go down with medication and stayed down... hopefully tonight goes well and he is on his way to recovery!

He can't go back to daycare until he is 24 hours fever-free without meds, so Grandma Roxanne is coming to watch Liam tomorrow. I am running quite low on sick days and I hate to have Jon miss two days in a row at work... so we called in the recruits (thanks mom!). If things continue down this path of sickness every week... we may be calling in the troops more often!

Send healthy, happy thoughts our way... oh summer, you cannot come fast enough :)

New words!

Liam is saying more and more sounds! Dada has been said for lots of things... But now most of them are directed to Jon! Also, while playing with balls... Liam said 'ba' for ball multiple times!

Such a big boy!

Keep checking the list on the side for more words!

Go PACK Go!

Liam's all ready to cheer for his favorite team! Liam doesn't want to make Grandpa Dave sad... he is hoping for a great game!

Changing... Changing

Liam has had a busy week! He is now an official member of the 'mobile infant' room. He loves his new room... new toys... new friends... new people! He has a much busier, more structured schedule now. He gets to go to the big boy gym with giant balls and slides at least every other day and when the weather gets warmer, he will get outside as well! He also gets to do a lot more art projects... today the teacher was impressed by the way he grasped and banged his marker! His new room is about twice the size of his old room and has a lot of great play space... he is at home already!

We still never quite know about his sleeping... at home or daycare! There were days this week where Liam took one 20 minute nap all the way to an hour and a half nap (one of the best daycare naps!). He has been sleeping a bit more soundly at home again, which is a welcome relief. Jon and I were only up with him 2 or 3 (things are a bit fuzzy!) nights this week... with him sleeping through the night the other 3 or 4 nights.

Liam officially has seven teeth now! Four on the bottom and three on the top. He is still waiting on the side right tooth on the top. I am hoping for a teething break before molars decide they want to come...

Liam is talking up a storm all of a sudden. Everything we say, he is trying to say back. The intonation is sooo cute! Bath time is an especially vocal and splashy time!

We will have to get some video of Liam cruising on the furniture and his toys... he is very proud that he can manuver around a bit now... We even got our very first 'bumps and bruises' report from daycare this week!

Another sneaky tooth!

While checking to see if liam's other center top tooth had broken through yet... It has been sooo close for days now.... We found a tooth on the other side... Didn't even know one was coming!

So, six teeth currently... 4 bottom, 2 top on the right!

Liam is still fighting his cold, but doing pretty well... Learning new ways to stand and move every minute it seems!

Another cold...

But no ear infection :)

I picked Liam up from daycare at 12 yesterday. They called and said he had not been acting himself and he had a fever of 101.4. We went to the doctor later that afternoon just to make sure there wasn't an ear infection. She said everything is looking fine and he probably just is fighting a cold.

Jon is home with him this morning since he woke up with a continued fever of 101.5... hopefully some playing, snuggling and napping will have him on the road to recovery...

Stinker... stinker

I went to pick Liam up from daycare last night around 3 and he was sleeping... One might see this as a good sign...

Well, Liam decided to play, play, play in his crib all morning, not taking any nap at all. His new favorite continues to be standing in his crib and throwing pacis out. He finally passed out at 2:25... slept until 3:40 when someone needed to go back in the nap room...

While waiting for him to wake up, I was talking with one of his teachers, who said "We have had some difficulty sleepers before... but none of them compare to Liam"

Uggg.... So, we have decided to try going to only one nap at daycare... of course this morning/last night Liam came down with a runny nose/cough. What is the best thing for him... SLEEP... what is he not going to get today at daycare... vicious cycle. I know that eventually this will all be a distant memory, but right now it makes me full of worry! Everyone cross their fingers and send some positive, sleepy thoughts Liam's way...

Sit and Spin

A little young yet, but he seems to be interested in it!

Weekend Happenings!

We had a busy weekend here with all the standing and speaking! We managed to get a few other things done as well:

We celebrated Parker's 2nd birthday with our good friends Katie and Nick. Liam's first birthday party and he enjoyed himself. He did seem confused at times that there were so many adults in the room not looking at him ;)

Liam found the rubbermaid container stash in the kitchen... good fun!
We installed a gate in the hallway... Liam is far too fast to take any chances! We have not had to install one at the bottom of the stairs yet, I am sure we won't have much longer though!

In un-related baby news... I finished my 2,000 piece puzzle. Took me just about 2 weeks, which isn't bad with a 10-month old!

Sleeping, sleeping...

Well as one would expect, with new skills has come new challenges for Liam sleeping. Fortunately, (*knock on wood) Liam's night-time sleep seems to be 'back to normal' with him sleeping fairly well through the night for 10-11 hours straight.

His naptimes, especially at daycare, have suffered though. We are back to 40ish minute naps and three naps a day... Liam has found out he can stand in his crib at home... and fall backwards, hitting his head :(

Hopefully he will adjust to all his new skills fairly quickly and be able to get some rest during the day! He is a stomach sleeper most of the time, side sleeper sometimes. He really likes being on his stomach, face smashed into the mattress with his legs curled up under him... mommy's boy!

Pulling to stand

Liam is now mastering pulling to stand. Here is some video of some of his first attempts from this weekend! [Keep in mind that he has gotten much better at this already! Today he spent the day standing in his crib at daycare, throwing pacis... his version of protesting this 'napping' thing that everyone wants him to do!]

FIRST WORD!!!!

MAMA....

Jon and I are in agreement that Liam definitely says 'mama' now. It was directed at me, although it is also used for other reasons (more puffs... crabby pants... get over here now!)

Anyway, Jon and Liam were sitting on the couch after breakfast. Liam was waiting *patiently* for me to nurse him. When I came to sit down on the couch, he reached out his arms and said 'mama'... music to both our ears! Way to go Liam... we are proud of you!

Weekend Fun!

Saturday we had fun relaxing at home... some especially cute pictures!

Bentley's 3rd Birthday!

Notice my new 'mohawk'

Finding Daddy's zipper!

Grandma please don't notice my new 'w' sitting... mommy got right on that one!
Chewing on a great wooden triangle (new favorite!)
Daddy built a great new tower...

which Liam of course knocked over...

Sunday we had some friends over to watch the Packer WIN!!! Liam was busy giving out high-fives and smiling during the game :) (Grandpa Dave... we do not feel badly about the bear loss...)

44 Weeks!

Liam is now 10 months old and just passed the 44 week mark... WOW! Cute as ever...

In other news... the moose attacks have been growing a bit more serious and definitely are becoming personal...

Liam Playing

Some more great video Jon took today... Liam is just taking off with his crawling... getting into all sorts of mischief!

New year... new tooth!

Liam's first upper tooth broke through this morning... finally! It is his upper right tooth! The upper left is on it's way too... hopefully soon!

Liam made sure that he brushed both his bottom teeth and his top tooth tonight before bath :)

Ear Update...

Well, Jon kept Liam home today from daycare on his day off from work... Liam has had some rough nights again and a runny nose as well as some cranky pants... so we were concerned that Liam's ear infection was acting up again. As it turns out, all is looking good in his ears. His left ear is completely clear, no fluid, no infection. His right ear is no longer infected, with just a little fluid left to drain...

That is good news to hear, since I was worried about tubes, ENTs, etc. Hopefully Liam will be feeling back to his old self in no time!

Highchair Workout

Daddy took some fun video on his day home with Liam!
