More Hives

Uggghhh. More hives this week. After the major breakout on wednesday, we had a fairly tame day yesterday. A hive here and there throughout the day and a larger outbreak towards bedtime. Liam woke up with one hive this morning, but none for the rest of the day... until bath time where he had a large breakout yet again all over his neck, back and chest.

We haven't eaten any solid food since wednesday, so I am not exactly sure where the hives are coming from... possibly a virus... possibly still food allergies... possibly something I am eating... possibly something environmental...

New plan. Wait for the hives to go away before going back to food. Narrow down possible skin allergens (soap, laundry detergent, etc.).

The good news is that Liam doesn't seem affected by them... so it is just mommy that is left to worry!

Bananas!

Liam had his first banans for breakfast today. He didn't hate them... didn't love them! This is our second day of having breakfast and lunch...

and the last for awhile... as Liam broke out in many, many hives and a bit of a rash this afternoon. As I put him to bed, he was still getting hives and had a pretty good sized rash on his chest.

I am not convinced it was the banana... perhaps the carrot we had for lunch... anyway, restricted diet for a bit until the hives go away and then slowly, very slowly we will reintroduce carrots and bananas again. Liam is not going to like this bland rice cereal diet!
He was officially 5 months old yesterday, weighing in at just over 18 lbs!

Weekend Fun

Another busy weekend! We were up visiting Jon's parents on saturday. Liam got his first carrots, which he really liked! He also got to show his skills on the piano with Uncle Andrew!

Sunday, my parents came up and watched Liam while Jon and I went to lunch to celebrate our anniversary tomorrow and ran some errands! Jon got a shiny new TV for the basement and I got to buy diapers...

Liam continues to learn new things everyday. He has gotten very good at grabbing everything now, including the dog! He made a really good plea for Jon's beer bottle tonight and when he couldn't get it, tried to get Grandpa's instead! No such luck though!

OT Appointment

We had our one-month check-up today with the OT to follow up on Liam's torticollis. She was impressed by little Liam and all he could do! She said his head shape is looking nearly perfect and he doesn't really have any areas of tightness currently. The head tilt will keep surfacing when Liam is working on new skills, but should go away with our continued stretching. We will see her again for a consult after Liam starts to crawl!

20 weeks old

Liam was twenty weeks old yesterday! He keeps changing so fast! He is getting very good at getting his toys and figuring out how they work. You can show him something and he imitates that now!

Last week we ate sweet potatoes, which Liam likes, and applesauce, which Liam didn't like so much. We have discontinued the applesauce for a bit since his intestinal system didn't really seem to like it. I made peaches for him tonight and gave him a small taste... big smiles! This week we will try out the peaches some more and some carrots...

Liam is currently taking his bath and has four fingers in his mouth... another first!

Liam tried applesauce today... I don't think he really liked it. He ate it, he made some faces... we will see how he feels about it tomorrow. He is really digging his exersaucer lately... learning some new fine motor skills in spinning!

Weekend of Fun!

Had fun this weekend. On friday we took advantage of the nice weather and headed downtown for Bastille Days... Liam enjoyed it a bit too much! Lots of things to look at and listen too... a nap followed :)

We then hit up Alterra for some refreshments and people watching... again, Liam thought that was pretty fun!

We started a new food today... Sweet Potatoes! Mommy made them all by herself (has to be the easiest baby food ever to make by the way!) Liam didn't seem to hate them... didn't seem to love them... we will try them again tomorrow!

We put Liam in his excersaucer today. He could figure out the spinning thing or the bouncing thing... but man was he excited about all the new toys to look at!

I've always felt that our bathroom was missing something - now I finally know what it was... a blue octopus faucet cover!

Slimers!

Liam is now getting very good at grabbing mommy's face and giving her kisses... affectionately known as 'slimers' in this house!

First Solid Foods

Liam had his first official food tonight!  Rice cereal mixed with breastmilk... yum, yum!  He loved it!  A natural born eater!  We will make it a bit thicker tomorrow and see how he does with that!

Happy 4th of July!

We had a nice 4th of July weekend.  On Saturday, we spent a relaxing day up in Appleton with the Quinn's and Galchutt's (sorry if I miss-spelled the name...).  Liam did amazing - he spent the day with 6 very excited children without any fussing or crying!  It was great to see them again - it has been far too long!

Sunday was rather laid back - Roxanne and David came up for a visit.  We decided to break out Liam's swing.  He seemed to enjoy himself although he wasn't quite sure what to make of the whole swinging thing.  If nothing else, it made for some cute pictures of Liam in his new sunglasses.

Sleeping has been much better the last few nights.  After a week of very poor sleeping, Liam decided to sleep through the night on Friday night.  Since then, his sleeping has been back to normal for the most part *sigh of relief* Today we're planning to try solid food with Liam - we'll try to get a video posted.

Fun Times!

Size change!

We are now in 6-9 clothes and size 3 diapers!

Leave it to our son...

So... two health professionals... two days in a row... have no idea what the 'little white bump' inside Liam's mouth is... I want Liam to be unique and his own person... but really he can stop stumping the medical professionals!

The pediatric dentist we saw this morning took a look. A direct quote "I have never seen that before"... oh good. She thinks it is either a chunk of bone (although she has never seen or heard this in kids before) that is just kind of 'extra'... apparently adults have this a lot (I happen to have a few of them) or it is a tooth that is very, very out of place...

At any rate, we are continuing the "wait and see" method. Wait and see what it does... wait and see if it changes... wait and see if a dinosaur hatches out of it and eats the cat (just my personal theory of late!). We will go back at 6 months to see the dentist again... we may need an x-ray at that point... who knows!
