We have been trying foods with Evan this past week. Rice and oatmeal cereals he likes. Carrots - not so much!

Out to breakfast!

Evan got to sit in his first high chair at breakfast this weekend... not because I thought he was ready for it, because for the record he is still too little, but rather because on the way there he thought it was a good time to have his weekly poop.  All. over. the. carseat.

Yep, that was fun.  We tag teamed it.  I got the kid cleanup (yuck, btw) and Jon got the carseat cleanup (which was also yuck).

So needless to say, we didn't want to make that kid sit in his own poop all breakfast :)
The carseat got a thorough cleaning when we got home!

Making Music!

The boys were playing together today.  So sweet. Evan is almost ready to be sitting up with his boppy for support.  He didn't like face planting forward too much today... but soon!

Zoo Class!

Liam had a bear class on saturday afternoon.  He really loved it!
All dressed up in his bear costume
Digging around to find berries, fish, leaves and sticks
Getting his fish and berries snack

A gift from my husband

I was at work the previous two weeks, so Mary wonderfully took over my duties here at home with the kids.  Since she has left... it has been a bit of a disaster with sleeping.  Jon had previously ordered this book and my oh my is it fitting.  Evan has always been a rockstar night sleeper... correction - had always been a rockstar night sleeper.  For the past several nights he has been getting up for two feedings again, instead of one or none and is now up at 5:30/6:00 in the morning.  Ugh.  For those that do not remember, two feedings a night is the difference between getting 4-5 consecutive hours of sleep and getting 1-2 hours of sleep twice a night.  That is a big difference.  Trust me.  I also have a lot of trouble falling back alseep when I am so tired... so to top it off, I only got 3 hours of sleep last night.  Yeah, it was a long day today.

I am hoping Evan moves quickly past this growth spurt/teething/sleep regression phase...

First Movie!

Terrible picture, but Liam and I went to the theater for his very first movie last weekend.  We saw Planes and he really enjoyed it!

MPM Trip

Several weeks ago we headed out to the Milwaukee Public Museum.  Jon's work sponsored a GE day, so we took advantage of the free stuff and had a great day!
In the theater for the butterfly Imax film!

Friends!

Four Months Old

Yes, this is a bit late (as always!), but the photos and stats were on time!

Evan is growing and growing... here's a snapshot!
  • Height: 26.25" (91st %ile)
  • Weight: 17 lbs 10 ounces (88th %ile)
  • Head: 43 cm (88th %ile)
  • For those that are comparing here were Liam's stats:                                                                Weight: 17 lbs, 8 ounces Height: 26 3/4 inches Head circumference: 42 cm
  • Evan is so alert... he loves watching everything, being outside, looking at big brother, watching tv/ipad
  • He is beginning to be interested in books... looking at the pictures
  • He is constantly teething everything... hands are his favorite - his or yours.  He will attempt to shove anything into his mouth and gets very upset when it doesn't fit just right
  • Loves kisses and snuggles... those get belly laughs
  • Still loves songs and rhymes
  • Sleep continues to be one of the biggest challenges for him.  He sleeps quite well at night, but naps are hard for him.  He doesn't want to fall asleep very easily (30+ minutes of screaming is the norm) and he doesn't stay asleep for long
  • At night he usually only gets up once to feed and then goes right back down.  Daytime naps are still 4 a day that average about 30 - 60 minutes if put down or one long afternoon nap in mommy's arms
  • He is still sleeping in his rock n play, although we do try out the crib just to see
  • He is still showing allergies to dairy, although I can sneak the occasional hidden diary in without him showing too many symptoms.  I have put soy back into my diet now, although I still am trying to stay away from major soy protein offenders as that seems to upset him
  • Just because one day I will forget... he poops every 4-6 days, unless I have eaten something that upsets him... then it is within a day
  • Some of his favorite toys right now are his butterfly rings, wiry straw ball, little round teething animals, kitty tails/jungle tails books, snuggle puppy book (thanks grandma!), his spinning excersaucer toys, and his little soft elephant rattle (a liam present!)
  • He loves to go and ga when he is having fun or excited.
  • Everyone thinks his chunky little thighs are adorable!
  • Still on reflux meds... that seems to be under control at the moment... until the next growth spurt!
  • Can roll over from and tummy to back and if everything is in just the right place, from back to tummy!  Lots of times he is still quite thrown off by this and cries!
  • Loves his bath!
