Cuteness

Liam and I had to run to the vet tonight after daycare to pick up cat food. I gave Liam my cell phone to play with while we were driving to keep him happy... Cuteness ensued! When I would say "Say hi to daddy", Liam would open up the phone, put it up to his ear, and say "aaaa". Too cute! This was repeated many, many times, making the ride very enjoyable for both of us!

Ouchie... :(

I got a call not even 30 minutes after I dropped Liam off at daycare on Tuesday... Liam had a bit of an accident and bruised his eye :( Apparently he was standing and hanging onto the back of a small chair other kids use to sit at the table while they are eating. The kid that was sitting in the chair got up, causing Liam to flip over the chair and bruise his eyelid. It was still pretty swollen through wednesday, but seemed to be going down tonight before bed. It is quite bruised though... very sad sight :( I am not all that sure what happened or why it happened, but I am trying to just remember that Liam is a toddler and will continue to get ouchies... but I don't have to like it, not one bit!

13 Months old...

Before I can even begin to get used to having a one year old... I have a 13-month old! Crazy! Grandpa Clancy and Grandma Mary came up on Sunday to celebrate my birthday. Liam had a lot of fun playing with his new birthday car (grandma helped him steer a little!). We all went out to brunch to celebrate. This was Liam's first grown-up restaurant... he did wonderfully! He is such a little man!13 months old!

St. Patrick's Day!

Liam wanted to show his Irish spirit... wearing his green Saint Patrick's Day shirt. It was a hit at daycare!

ENT Check-up

Liam and Daddy had a couple of days all to themselves... I was at a conference on Monday and Tuesday. They seemed to really enjoy themselves. Liam is starting to play more and more 'games'... enjoying the control over the interactions and the interactions between people! Lately he has also been playing by himself more and more... such a crazy thing to see him entertaining himself!

Tuesday afternoon Jon took Liam for his check-up after his surgery. Liam got another hearing test and everything was within normal limits, which is was not before his surgery! Liam has the 'all-clear' on his tubes. The only precaution we have to take is to try to avoid dirty water (lake, bath, etc.) from getting into his ears. He can swim without ear plugs though... we just haven't been brave enough to try a pool with Liam since our first attempt!

This week's sleeping has been a bit better at daycare... Liam is getting at least 40 minutes worth of nap, which is a nice change from last week's disaster naps!

Liam also got his eigth tooth this week! He now has a full set of choppers on the top and bottom (at least his incisors!).

He is also getting more adventurous with his solo standing and 'walking'... he often finds himself standing while holding on to a toy with both hands when he suddenly realizes he is not holding on anything and then falls to the ground... pretty cute! Jon says it is like the cartoons when characters run off a cliff and then only 'fall' when they realize they are running on air!

Daycare provides a report for Liam everyday saying what he did, ate, etc...  We got this one earlier last week which I still get a kick out of:

Walking?!?

Well... Liam's first official steps happened... we think! Last night Jon and I were in Liam's room getting ready for bath. We were having Liam 'walk' between us and he was starting to let go of our fingers and then lurch forward to the person in front of him. One of those times... Liam took a couple of steps towards Jon all on his own and then face-planted!

So, we officially have our first steps, although it will still be some time before that happens independently and without an 'all or nothing' result!

We are proud of you Liam!

Our little Liam is one year old. We thought we would document some of his favorite things right now!

• Books, books, books: Liam loves taking all his books off his shelves. He sits and 'reads' them for quite awhile in one-year old standards, can be 15-20 minutes worth of his attention! Some of his favorite books to read right now are: Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom; Peek-a-boo/Touch and feel; Moo, Baa, La, La, La; The big red ball and the little white kitten; Big Little; Five Lucky Ducks; Bunny Kisses
• Loves, loves, loves his big balloons still hanging around from his birthday. He can locate 'Cow Balloon', 'Duck Balloon' and 'balloons' all over the living room.
• He loves putting things in and out and can follow directions for these things when he wants to! The other night, I asked him to put his shirt in the laundry basket and HE DID!!!
• Balls... still a favorite to roll and throw!
• Riding on the hippo
• 'Walking' around with fingers
• Magnets on the fridge. He just recently learned how to put them back on the fridge!
• Opening drawers in the kitchen to get out tupperware!
• Stuffed animals! He loves pointing at and touching the four stuffed animals he has in his room upstairs!
• Foods: toast, bagel, bread... CARBS! Likes banana, turkey lunchmeat, and yogurt... other foods... depends on the minute of the day!

It is hard to even picture what one year ago looked like! Everyday is an adventure and we never know what to expect... but we love our little Liam more than anything else!

Mommy/Daddy Presents

Liam opened his presents from Mommy and Daddy this weekend. He is really starting to enjoy ripping the paper and seeing what is under it!

1 Year Stats!

We were at the doctor for Liam's one year check-up this afternoon. Everything is looking very good! Here's the stats:

Weight: 21 lbs, 2 oz. (50% on new growth chart... different from previous growth chart, but apparently a more accurate representation of today's infants/toddlers)

Height: 31 1/2 inches (95%)

Head Circumference: 47 cm (60%)

52 Weeks Old!
