New favorite at the zoo!

This zoo trip was hands-down the most fun for Liam. He was looking at everything this time around! He loved all the different monkeys, big and small. He loved the fish, lizards, lions, tigers and the jellyfish! He was actively searching each exhibit, taking it all in and would follow our finger when we pointed at the animals!

Seeing everything Liam saw today, he has a new favorite exhibit.... FISH! See the pictures and video below!

Trick or Treating at the Zoo

Ok, so there wasn't any trick or treating for Liam, but we had a lot of fun! I have to say that Liam was the cutest kid in costume at the zoo!

Another First...

Liam rolled over from his back to his stomach this morning in his crib... he also turned himself 180 degrees :)

Never a dull moment!

Firsts...

Couple of firsts Jon and I have been noting this week....

• From a sit Liam lunged to all fours and held it or a bit
• Pushes his fire truck back and forth, making it 'go'
• Clapped his hands together
• Likes playing patty-cake (when you get his hands. He is not actively clapping other hands yet)
• So many new sounds, of note: da, di, do, new
• Putting sounds together: dadada, dididi, etc.
• Started some solids including a rice cracker, sweet potota chunks, and regular potato chunks (can pick them up... do not make it to the mouth though, which is funny because everything else goes to the mouth!)
• Likes playing the "keep away" game with his paci (mommy puts it in her mouth and Liam grabs for it, but mommy moves! Usually accompanied by many laughs and smiles!)
• Has now had motrin (not as fun, but still a first!)
• Has had two antibiotics (again... not fun, but necessary)
• Throws more and more temper tantrums when you take away or don't let him have something he wants :)

Home with Liam... Time for a Photo Shoot!

Jon and I both felt it was best if Liam stayed home today... get some rest and relaxation so he can be on the road to recovery! Jon stayed home with him this morning and I came home around noon for the afternoon. I hate that Liam is sick... but I love being able to have snuggle time and play time and... a photo shoot!

Round Two

Went to the doctor last night after I got home from work. Liam has, in the doctor's words, "a yucky ear infection" in his left ear now... to those keeping track... this is the opposite ear from last time. The right ear is now cleared up. She started us on Augmentin, which hopefully will clear up the ears, which will allow the nasal passage to drain, which will eventually allow Liam to stop coughing...

I miss my healthy, happy boy! Liam is being a trooper through this whole thing. He is sleeping well and napping like a champ at home. Hopefully we can get through the rest of today and tomorrow and then rest up over the long four-day weekend.

Sick... Again

Uggghhh. Liam woke up Sunday morning with an icky cough again and then the runny nose. He had an ok night last night... lots of coughing, but didn't need a lot of pacis. He is really starting to be able to put himself back to sleep so much better than in the past :)

This morning he woke up with a fever (99.8) and was coughing a lot, so Jon is home with him today. We will see how the day goes and whether his fever goes away, but if all stays the same, I will be home with him tomorrow and we will be off to the doctor just to make sure.

Send healthy thoughts our way... (as I sit at work and have kids cough all over me...)

Tricked Me!

Well I was convinced Liam was getting his upper teeth... I am was right and wrong. The little stinker tricked me. Here I was looking at the top of his mouth... feeling everyday AND out pops his third tooth... on the bottom! He now has another tooth on the right side! No sign of the left tooth yet... but I am on to his tricks now!

Feeling Better

Almost scared to post that because life dictates that Liam will go downhill again, but he seems to be feeling better. He is on day three of antibiotics and his ear doesn't seem to be bothering him (although it never really seemed to!) His nose is pretty free of goo and his cough is intermittent. Hopefully he will continue to sleep well and rest up so he is feeling all better!

In other news... new teeth may be on there way... just a hunch. I will keep you posted!

What are these chunks doing here?

We gave Liam his first finger foods tonight... chunks of cooked sweet potato! He was curious and really loved banging the food on his tray. He snagged several pieces with his newly acquired pincher grasp, but none made it to his mouth. I gave him a couple pieces and he did well with them... chewing motions and all! I also smashed some sweet potato with his pears (rather than pureeing it in the food processor) and he did very well with that! Only one gag and one small piece spit out! He will be on his way to 'big people' food in no time!

32 (well... 33) weeks old!

We fell a week behind with Liam's pictures... sick babies don't like pictures before bed and forgetful parents :)

But here he is... so cute and so big!

Weight Check

Forgot to mention... Liam now weighs 19lbs and 13.5 oz... only 10 ounces in a month... slowing down!

Uh Oh

Liam's cold has now escalated to antibiotic status...

His cough started to get worse last night and he was pretty snotty again this morning. As it turns out, daycare called since Liam was pretty cranky all morning... so doctor's appt. was in the works! Although he doesn't have a blatant ear infection, he does have fluid in his right ear, which may or may not be infected. The doctor wanted to start antibiotics because of the fluid and ongoing cold for two weeks now.

So... pink amoxicillin it is! Liam likes the flavor (just like his mommy!)... hopefully he will be feeling better before we know it!

We will be resting up this weekend taking it easy!

We spent Saturday up at a rental house with all the grandparents. It was beautiful weather! Liam loved having all the grandparent's attention eventhough he was a tired, somewhat under the weather boy!

Liam took a three hour power nap on Sunday morning and we went for a hike with some friends in the afternoon!

Liam is feeling somewhat better... nose is drying up again, but the cough is still there. He had a good day at daycare and was a very happy boy this evening, so I hope he is on the road to recovery!

Cold... now a cough

Liam's cold is definitely getting better. He has been in his crib without extensive rocking for three nights now. Tuesday night he even slept the entire night through without a peep! His nose is still stuffy and runny, but the colorful stuff has stopped! Now Liam has a cough, but I think it is just from all the drainage happening. He still hasn't had any fever and is a happy boy when he is awake... so all in all, we are getting through the first cold pretty well!

Liam is in love with daycare. He loves his teacher, usually squirming to get out of my arms and into hers when I drop him off in the morning! His naps are still hard, with some days better than others... but overall he has adjusted very well.

He is LOVING his bathtime lately... actively playing with his bath toys and splashing in the water! He is getting more and more adventurous when he is sitting anf being held... lunging to get what he wants! In a couple of weeks we are going to start finger foods... how fun!

Cold...

Liam has got his first cold. I suspect it was from holding hands with Vanessa at daycare, since she was quite the snotty-face on friday as well :)

When I picked Liam up on Wednesday, one of the daycare teachers told me about how Liam and Vanessa were playing on the carpet and Liam thought instead of playing with toys, he wanted to play with Vanessa. So he reached right out and grabbed her hand. Ahh... already a ladies man!

At anyrate, thursday night... snot city. Poor boy :( He is doing fairly well during the day... happy enough. Sleeping is pretty difficult for him though, since he can't really breathe all that well. We have every "non-medicated" cold remedy in use: humidifier, vicks plug-in, vicks on the back, nasal aspirator, nasal saline, vaseline on the nose, tylenol... probably more I can't think of. Jon and I have been switching off nights because pretty much Liam needs some snuggles and upright sleeping most of the night... hope this goes away soon!
