We started our "tiny tots" swimming class our first week of summer break. This was Liam's first swim class.., started off rocky, but four classes in and Liam is really enjoying it!
I had every intention of keeping a running record of each swim day... whoops!
Here's the summary! First day was filled with A LOT of clinging to mommy in the water and crying, yeah, lots of crying. He didn't really try a lot that first day, but that was fine. We got through it, he knew what tomorrow was going to bring... I considered that a success. For the rest of that week (very COLD week, may I add) Liam did much better. Still clingy, but would try everything, including kicking, bubble blowing, laying on his back, laying on his tummy, climbing out of the pool, reaching for toys and jumping back into the pool. The second week, much warmer thankfully, Liam was even more comfortable. He was less clingy and needed less prodding to do things. His favorite parts of class were the songs at the beginning (motorboat and old macdonald had a pool) were his favorites. He really liked pretending to talk to the fish through a small ring by blowing bubbles and then turning his ear to the water to hear their answer... really liked that game! He also really liked the pancake flip (back to tummy flip) and gliding off the side of the pool (pushing with his legs from the wall). We had a wonderful time with swim lessons! Daddy got to take him to swim lessons on wednesday... he will have to recount that tale himself!
