Liam is FOUR!!!

Our wonderful, sweet boy turned four.  Such a big part of me can't even remember when he was a little baby and the other part of me is just marveling at how he is four already!  Here are just a few of the things we love about our four year old Liam:

  • Stats:
    •  39 lbs, 8 ounces (78%ile)
    • 3 feet, 5.9 inces (83rd %ile)
    • Perfect eyesight and achieving all developmental norms
  • His insatiable thirst for knowledge and his need to know as much about everything as he possibly can.  He very commonly will be asking question after questions just so he can understand how it works.
  • He NEVER forgets anything.  This kid has memories that I cannot believe.  He remembers things from a year ago with such clarity.  He has such a sense of time and often reminisces much like an adult does.
  • He loves his family.  His whole family.  He cherishes them and the memories he has with everyone.  I love to see him love his life and the people in it.  Just amazing
  • He loves trains and planes.  Thomas is still going strong as are trains in general.  Liam loves driving all his trains on tracks he builds or just as much he loves driving his trains on the wood floor, making up a story as he plays.  Planes are right up there with them.  He is beginning to love dinosaurs and cars.  He loves moving and jumping.  He LOVES books.  When you ask him what his favorite books are he tells you: The Lorax, Horton Hears a Who, Planes and Thomas books and others depending on his mood!
  • His very best friend is Vanessa.  Liam is going to marry her and life in the same house as her.  Vanessa is equally infatuated with Liam.  It is wonderful to see them interact - polar opposites - they balance and inspire each other.  We are sad to say that they are moving this summer to Denver, but we are excited to get out to visit them and our West Family in Colorado soon!
  • Liam can do so much on his own now.  He can get dressed, undressed, zip his coat, get his sock and shoes on (sometimes needs some help with the correct feet), goes to the bathroom on his own all time - even at night, brushes his own teeth, plays on his own and can write his own name.
  • Liam LOVES his brother.  The relationship between Evan and Liam is the most amazing thing I have ever watched.  Everyday Evan gets more and more into Liam's stuff, but very rarely does this bother him and when it does Liam just plays at the table.  More often than not though, Liam is running into the room with a toy to share with Evan and they play together.  Evan lights up when he sees Liam and Liam just loves getting 'slimy' kisses from Evan.  Everyday Liam helps me drop Evan off in his room at daycare.  Evan can be mauling Liam and being quite rough and Liam just loves it.
  • Liam can count to 20 and recognizes numbers to 20.  He knows all his letters and sounds.  He can blend a word together if you give him the sounds.  He knows all of our names as sight words as well as few favorites (train, thomas, plane, etc).  He can recognize and make his own rhyming words.
  • His favorite colors are blue and red.  He loves watching Thomas, Caillou, Dinosaur Train, Superwhy and Sid the Science Kid.  He loves Cars, Cars 2, Planes, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 1 and 2, The Lorax and most other kids movies.
  • He is sensitive and quiet.  He doesn't try new things without a lot of foreshadowing and talking through.  He is very in tune with his emotions and readily articulates when things are bothering him and why.  He follows every rule there is.  He loves helping everyone.
  • Liam is a huge fan of fruit and breads.  Loves them all.  We are working on broadening our veggie and meat choices!
  • Liam loves getting and giving hugs.  He loves being told 'I love you'.  He loves getting snuggles and his favorite thing to do before bed is stall so he can snuggle mommy and daddy even longer.
I could go on and on and I will update this list as I think of more things.  We just love watching our Liam grow into such an amazing boy!!!
